Troubleshooting

Quick solutions to common issues in ComicVerse. If you don't find your answer here, contact support through Profile → Settings → Help & Feedback.

Import & File Issues

Import fails with "Unsupported format" error

  • Verify file extension is CBZ, CBR, CB7, CBT, PDF, or EPUB
  • Check file isn't corrupted (try opening on computer)
  • Ensure archive contains images, not text documents
  • Remove DRM protection if present

Import fails with "Password protected" error

  • Remove password using archive software on computer
  • Re-compress files without password
  • ComicVerse doesn't support encrypted archives

Files import but no cover images appear

  • Cover art generates from first page (may take 1-2 minutes)
  • Check back after a minute
  • If still missing, file may be corrupted—try reimporting

OPDS server won't connect

  • Verify URL is correct and includes protocol (http:// or https://)
  • Check credentials if authentication required
  • Test server URL in web browser first
  • Ensure internet connection is stable

Import is very slow

  • Large files (>100MB) take longer to import
  • Ensure sufficient storage space available
  • Check internet connection if importing from cloud
  • Consider using OPDS streaming for large files

Comics imported but can't be opened

  • File may be corrupted—try re-downloading
  • Archive might use unsupported compression format
  • Try extracting and re-creating archive as CBZ

Can I import entire folders?

  • Currently not supported—select individual files or use multi-select
  • Use OPDS servers to organize large collections instead

Pages appear out of order

  • Images should be named sequentially: 001.jpg, 002.jpg, 003.jpg
  • Inconsistent numbering (1.jpg, 02.jpg, 003.jpg) causes issues
  • Extract and re-compress with properly numbered files

Large files are slow to load

  • Files over 200MB: Use OPDS streaming instead of local import
  • Or convert to CB7 format for better compression
  • Close background apps to free memory

Canvas & Drawing Issues

Canvas feels laggy

  • Reduce brush width to smaller size
  • Clear unnecessary elements from canvas
  • Close background apps
  • Restart ComicVerse

Eraser not working

  • Verify eraser tool is selected (not pencil)
  • Check eraser width matches stroke size (increase if needed)
  • Ensure you're touching strokes, not empty canvas
  • Eraser removes complete strokes that intersect

Text won't move

  • Switch to Select tool (not Text tool)
  • Tap text element first to select it
  • Then drag to new position
  • Only text elements are movable (not drawing strokes)

Can't find saved project

  • Tap ellipsis menu → "Go to Projects"
  • Use search bar to find by title or tags
  • Check view mode (switch between grid and list)
  • Projects autosave—check timestamp in autosave indicator

Toolbar not appearing

  • Tap tool toggle button (top-right or top-left)
  • Try swiping toolbar buttons to switch sides
  • Restart app if toolbar remains hidden
  • Check you're not in read mode

Undo/redo not working

  • Undo supports up to 100 steps
  • "Clear Canvas" action cannot be undone (clears history)
  • Check you haven't exceeded undo limit
  • Try manual save if concerned about losing work

Drawing strokes appear jagged

  • Reduce drawing speed for smoother lines
  • Use thinner brush for detailed work
  • On iPad: Ensure Apple Pencil is charged and paired
  • Restart device if input lag persists

AI Generation Issues

Generated image doesn't match description

  • Be more specific in prompt (add details)
  • Include style keywords: "comic book style," "line art"
  • Add lighting: "dramatic lighting," "soft glow"
  • Specify composition: "close-up," "wide shot"
  • Try regenerating with slight prompt variations
  • Break complex requests into multiple generations

Image has artifacts or errors

  • Use eraser tool to remove unwanted elements
  • Regenerate problematic areas with focused prompts
  • Use pencil tool to manually fix small issues
  • Combine multiple generations for best results

Generation takes too long

  • Check internet connection (AI is cloud-based)
  • Try shorter, simpler prompts
  • Restart ComicVerse if generation hangs
  • Contact support if issue persists

Text in generated images is illegible

  • Don't rely on AI to generate readable text
  • Use canvas text tool to add dialogue after generation
  • Focus AI generation on visual elements only
  • Generated text always needs manual replacement

Can't access AI features

  • Requires internet connection (cloud-based model)
  • Check you're in canvas workspace
  • Tap image editing button in toolbar
  • Verify app is up to date via TestFlight

AI generation fails completely

  • Verify internet connection
  • Check Apple ID is signed in
  • Try restarting app
  • Contact support if problem continues

Library & Organization Issues

Comics not appearing in library

  • Check you're viewing "All" filter (not Favorites/Reading)
  • Pull down to reveal search bar—clear any active searches
  • Verify import completed successfully
  • Check correct library location in Settings

Reading progress not syncing

  • Ensure iCloud Drive is enabled in Settings
  • Check same Apple ID on all devices
  • Verify "Library Location" set to iCloud Drive
  • Allow time for sync (can take 1-2 minutes)

Favorites not syncing across devices

  • Requires iCloud Drive storage
  • Check same Apple ID signed in
  • Verify iCloud sync is enabled
  • Wait a few minutes for sync to complete

Can't change library location

  • Go to Profile → Settings → Library Location
  • Choose Local Storage or iCloud Drive
  • Existing comics will migrate to new location
  • Requires sufficient storage space

Search not finding comics

  • Check spelling of search term
  • Try partial title match
  • Clear and re-type search query
  • Verify comic is actually in library (check "All" filter)

TestFlight & Installation Issues

Didn't receive invitation email

  • Check spam/junk folder
  • Emails can take up to 30 minutes
  • Try signing up again if not received
  • Contact support for manual invitation
  • TestFlight invitations are time-sensitive
  • Request new invitation through website
  • Links expire after set period

TestFlight says "This beta is full"

  • 200 tester limit may be reached
  • Join waitlist for notification when space available
  • Check website for public release timeline

App crashes on launch

  • Restart device
  • Uninstall and reinstall through TestFlight
  • Check iOS version (requires iOS 15.0+)
  • Contact support if issue persists

Beta build expired

  • TestFlight builds expire after 90 days
  • Update to latest build through TestFlight
  • Your data and settings are preserved
  • Enable automatic updates in TestFlight

Can't install on multiple devices

  • Use same Apple ID on all devices
  • Open TestFlight on each device
  • Invitation works across iOS/iPadOS devices
  • May need to accept invitation separately on each device

Performance Issues

App using too much storage

  • Large local library uses device storage
  • Switch to iCloud Drive or OPDS streaming
  • Delete unused projects in Create section
  • Remove comics you've finished reading

Battery draining quickly

  • AI generation uses more power (cloud processing)
  • Drawing with Apple Pencil increases usage
  • Close app when not in use
  • Reduce screen brightness while reading

App running slowly

  • Close background apps
  • Restart device
  • Check available storage space
  • Update to latest TestFlight build
